The question of how such technologies will affect people in the future is as important as the technologies that are required to make this a reality. How will the society be affected if we can interact with simulations of people long after they are dead? There are questions regarding the implications for morality of bereavement: Just because we can create such simulations does not mean that we should create these simulations. Given that these virtual copies or simulations will be digital in nature, they will be extremely easy to copy. How will people respond to having multiple copies of their loved ones around? Over time these copies will evolve and diverge from one another. Things become more complicated when we start considering simulations of different deceased people interacting with one another.
